GETRAG FORD Transmissions Slovakia s.r.o. is part of GETRAG FORD Transmissions. It is also GETRAG’s only motorcycle transmission production site. State-of-the-art production facilities, providing a comfortable, modern working environment, are based in Kechnec, about 20km east of Košice, Slovakia’s second largest city.


Shifting things up a gear, the innovative new dual clutch transmission went into production at Kechnec in October 2007. This innovative idea banks on two layshaft transmissions working in parallel: one layshaft carries the even gears, the other the odd gears. The advantage of dual clutch transmissions over conventional technology – such as torque converter automatics and CVTs – is the excellent shift quality, superior driving comfort without torque interruption and improved fuel efficiency. This innovative technology has been launched in 2008.
