Great Britain

Established by Ford in 1964, the Halewood plant became one of three interlinked cogs forming the 50:50 joint venture between Ford and GETRAG. Plants at Halewood, Bordeaux (France) and Cologne (Germany) came together to form GETRAG FORD Transmissions in 2001.

High volumes of three tried and tested, manual and automated, five and six speed transmissions are produced at Halewood. In recent years, production areas have been continuously updated at the Merseyside plant, which is just 20km from Liverpool city centre.

Since the joint venture, the Halewood plant has initiated a successful culture change programme – ‘Blue Sky’ – putting employees at the heart of the business. Peoples’ passion was re-ignited as they were encouraged to drive forward major changes and develop their vision for the future of the plant. In 2005 the Halewood plant was awarded Best UK Engineering Factory by Cranfield University and in 2006 it gained the Investors in People award. On top of these accolades Halewood is extremely proud of its world class safety record.
